Job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an AI Product Owner based in the United States.
We are seeking an experienced AI Product Owner to lead the roadmap for AI security products, governance processes, and risk controls across an enterprise environment. In this remote role, you will translate complex security, privacy, and regulatory requirements into actionable product backlogs and technical delivery plans. Acting as the bridge between security leadership, business stakeholders, and engineering teams, you will drive initiatives that enable safe and responsible AI adoption. You will oversee priorities, coordinate Agile delivery, and measure progress through meaningful security and governance metrics. Your work will help strengthen AI risk management, improve compliance readiness, and establish effective safeguards for emerging AI technologies. This opportunity is ideal for a product professional with experience in AI/ML, cybersecurity, and enterprise governance.
\n
Accountabilities:
You will own the product vision, roadmap, and delivery priorities for AI security initiatives, ensuring that governance requirements and enterprise risk objectives are translated into practical solutions. Working closely with security, architecture, engineering, legal, risk, and AI teams, you will coordinate delivery, monitor outcomes, and communicate progress to leadership.
- Own and prioritize the product backlog for AI security initiatives, including AI/ML risk assessment tools, model governance workflows, AI usage monitoring, and generative AI guardrails.
- Translate enterprise security, privacy, and regulatory requirements into actionable user stories, acceptance criteria, and delivery plans.
- Incorporate relevant frameworks and standards, including NIST AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF), ISO/IEC 42001, SOC 2, PCI requirements, and applicable retail and data privacy regulations.
- Partner with security leadership, enterprise AI and data science teams, legal stakeholders, and risk functions to define product vision, priorities, and success metrics.
- Lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, and release reviews in collaboration with AI engineers, AI architects, and other technical stakeholders.
- Remove delivery blockers, sequence work according to business priorities, and maintain alignment between product objectives and engineering execution.
- Define and track key performance indicators for AI security posture, including model inventory coverage, completed risk assessments, remediated vulnerabilities, and policy adoption.
- Prepare product roadmaps, status reports, and executive-ready updates for security and technology leadership.
- Evaluate AI security tools and third-party vendors in collaboration with procurement and architecture teams.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of AI governance and security capabilities across the organization.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will combine strong product ownership and Agile delivery experience with practical knowledge of AI security risks, governance frameworks, and cybersecurity or governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) environments. You should be comfortable translating technical and regulatory requirements into product priorities and communicating effectively with both technical teams and senior executives.
- At least 5 years of experience in product ownership or product management.
- At least 2 years of experience focused on AI/ML, data platforms, or security products.
- Working knowledge of AI/ML lifecycle risks, including model risk, data poisoning, prompt injection, and adversarial inputs.
- Familiarity with AI governance frameworks and standards, including NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001, and the EU AI Act.
- Experience working within a cybersecurity or GRC organization.
- Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies, including backlog management, sprint planning, and release coordination.
- Experience using backlog management and delivery tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage technical teams and executive leadership.
- Ability to translate security, privacy, and compliance requirements into clear product specifications and measurable outcomes.
- Experience in retail, e-commerce, or other consumer-facing enterprise environments is an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), or an equivalent Agile certification.
- Security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or Security+.
- AI governance credentials, such as Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP).
- Previous experience establishing an AI governance or AI security program from the ground up.
Benefits:
- Hourly compensation: $30 per hour on a W-2 employment basis.
- Competitive compensation package for W-2 employees.
- Option to enroll in medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- Major holidays.
- Paid sick leave in accordance with applicable state law.
