Summary

Teal and Applystead both help you tailor a resume to a job. They differ in what the free plan covers, how paid plans are priced, and what happens when you want help with the applications themselves.

Teal's free plan gives you unlimited resumes and unlimited job tracking, with a small allowance of AI writing credits and the top five keywords from each job description. Teal+ unlocks the rest for $13 a week, $29 every 30 days or $79 every 90 days. If your goal is a well-organized search and polished resumes for a low monthly price, Teal+ costs far less than either Applystead paid plan.

Applystead's free account includes 10 AI-tailored resumes a day, and the free resume tailor gives up to 5 generations per IP address per Pacific day without signing up. Applystead has no job tracker and no job-saving browser extension. Applystead's paid plans are a different kind of product: Standard prepares applications you review one at a time, and Premium applies automatically only after your separate approval.

We make Applystead, so read this page with that in mind. Every Teal fact below comes from Teal's own public pages, checked on the date shown, and links to the page it came from.

Which should you choose?

Choose Applystead if

  • You want AI resume tailoring at no cost: 10 tailored resumes a day with a free account, or up to 5 generations per IP address per Pacific day with no account.
  • You want a browser-based keyword check showing selected terms found and missing, not an employer-specific ATS score.
  • You want someone to prepare applications for you to review (Standard), or to apply automatically after you approve it (Premium).

Choose Teal if

  • You track a large number of jobs and want unlimited tracking, contacts, checklists and follow-up email templates.
  • You save jobs from many job boards and want a Chrome extension that adds them to your tracker.
  • You want unlimited AI writing help and a 0-100% match score for about $29 a month rather than a $200 or $1,000 monthly plan.

Teal pricing in plain numbers

Teal has two tiers. Teal Free costs nothing and has no time limit. Teal+ is sold in three billing periods: $13 every 7 days, $29 every 30 days and $79 every 90 days. The 90-day option works out to the lowest daily cost, and Teal says you can upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any time.

Canceling Teal+ stops future billing at the end of the current period; it does not refund anything by itself. Teal's help center lists refund request windows of 2 days for weekly plans, 7 days for monthly plans and 14 days for quarterly and annual plans.

Applystead's paid plans cost more because they do more of the application work: Standard is $200 a month and Premium is $1,000 a month. If you only need resume writing help and a tracker, Teal+ is the cheaper choice; if you only need resume tailoring, Applystead's free account may be all you need.

What each free plan actually covers

Teal Free is generous with volume: unlimited resumes, unlimited job tracking and 10 templates. Its limits sit on analysis and AI: only the top 5 job description keywords, basic resume analysis and a small number of AI credits for bullets, summaries and cover letters.

Applystead's free account is the reverse. It keeps fewer resumes (a master plus three tailored versions) and has no job tracker, but it includes 10 full AI-tailored resumes every day. Without an account, the free resume tailor allows up to 5 generations per IP address per Pacific day and asks you to sign in when you want to save your work.

Match scores and plain keyword overlap

Teal+ gives you a Match Score from 0 to 100% that looks at keywords, skills and experience requirements, and highlights missing keywords. That is useful if you like a single number to aim for.

Applystead's free keyword checker compares selected job-description terms with your resume in your browser, including simple singular/plural matches. It shows the terms found and missing and their overlap percentage, not a predicted employer score. Treat keyword coverage as a writing aid, not a hiring prediction.

Getting help with the applications themselves

Teal's autofill uses its Chrome extension to fill in application forms from your Teal resume and to draft answers to open questions. You still review the form and press apply yourself.

Applystead's Standard plan prepares each application, including the resume and answers, and waits for you to review it and press Apply, up to 200 a day. Premium can submit applications automatically, but only after you give a separate, explicit approval; paying for a plan does not start applications on its own.

  • Pick Teal if you want to stay hands-on and mostly need a faster way to fill forms.
  • Pick Applystead Standard if you want prepared applications you check one by one.
  • Pick Applystead Premium only if you are comfortable approving automatic applying.

Common questions

How much does Teal cost?

Teal has a free plan with no time limit. Its paid plan, Teal+, is listed at $13 every 7 days, $29 every 30 days or $79 every 90 days on Teal's pricing page as of the date this page was checked. Teal says you can upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any time, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period.

Is Applystead a free alternative to Teal?

For resume tailoring, yes. A free Applystead account includes 10 AI-tailored resumes a day and a master resume with three saved tailored versions, but no job tracker. Teal Free keeps more resumes and tracks unlimited jobs, so it may suit you better if organization matters more than AI tailoring.

Can I tailor a resume without creating an account?

Yes. Applystead's free resume tailor allows up to 5 generations per IP address per Pacific day without an account; tailoring and refining both count, and people sharing a network share the allowance. You can edit the result in the same Resume studio members use and print it to PDF. To save your resumes, create a free account, which includes 10 tailored resumes a day.

Does the Applystead keyword checker give an ATS score?

No. Applystead's checker runs in your browser and reports selected job-description terms found or missing, including simple singular/plural matches. The displayed percentage describes term overlap, not how an employer's applicant tracking system will rank you. Add only skills and experience you genuinely have.

Why are Applystead's paid plans so much more expensive than Teal+?

They cover different work. Teal+ unlocks unlimited AI writing, keyword analysis and design settings. Applystead Standard, at $200 a month, prepares complete applications for you to review, up to 200 a day. Premium, at $1,000 a month, can apply automatically after your separate approval. If you only need resume help, Teal+ or Applystead's free account costs less.
