How to use it
- Check your notice period. Before you pick a last day, check your employment contract or handbook for any notice period that applies to you. Two weeks is a common choice, but your own terms come first.

Is two weeks notice required?
It depends on your job. Your employment contract, offer letter or company handbook is the place to check whether a specific notice period applies to you. Where nothing is set, two weeks is a common courtesy that gives your employer time to plan a handover, and it helps you leave on good terms.
What should a two weeks notice letter include?
Keep it short: the date, a clear statement that you are resigning, your job title, and your last working day. A line of thanks and an offer to help with the handover are a good addition. You do not need to explain why you are leaving or where you are going next.
Should I resign by letter or by email?
Many people do both: they tell their manager in person or on a call, then send a written notice the same day so there is a clear record of the date and their last day. The email version works on its own if your team is remote or your manager prefers it.
How do I work out my last day?
Count forward from the day you give notice by the length of your notice period, then check the date against your contract and any public holidays or leave you have booked. If you are unsure, ask your manager or HR to confirm the last day in writing.
