- Add your resume. Paste your resume or upload the file. The text is read and cleaned in your browser, so nothing you add leaves your device.
- Get the plain text. Bullet marks such as • or ▪ become a dash and a space, curly quotes become straight, non-breaking spaces and tabs become plain spaces, hidden characters are removed and long runs of blank lines shrink to one.
- Read what changed. The notes say how many bullet marks, quotes, spaces, tabs and hidden characters were changed, so you know what to look for when you check the result.
- Paste it into the form. Copy the cleaned text into the application form or text box, then read it through once in the form itself to make sure line breaks and headings still look right.

Why convert a resume to plain text?
Many application forms ask you to paste your resume into a plain text box. Fancy bullets, curly quotes and hidden characters copied from a word processor can show up there as odd symbols or run lines together. Cleaning the text first gives you something that pastes the same way everywhere.
What exactly does the converter change?
It changes bullet marks such as •, ▪ or ✓ to a dash and a space, replaces curly quotes and apostrophes with straight ones, turns non-breaking spaces and tabs into ordinary spaces, removes zero-width and control characters, and shortens three or more blank lines to a single blank line. Your words are left as they are.
Will it keep my formatting, like bold or columns?
No. Plain text has no bold, italics, tables or columns, so only the words and line breaks are kept. If your resume uses two columns, read the result carefully and move any lines that ended up in an odd order.
Does it change any of my words?
No. It only changes characters: bullet marks, quotes, spaces, tabs, hidden characters and extra blank lines. Spelling, wording and the order of your lines stay as they are.
Is my resume uploaded?
