How to use it
- Add your resume. Paste your resume or upload the file. A line that starts with a bullet mark such as •, ▪ or a dash counts as a bullet, and the check runs in your browser.
- Start with the fix notes. A fix note means the bullet opens with a word that is not an action verb, such as “Responsible” or “Duties”. Rewrite the start so the line leads with what you did.
- Adjust length and numbers. Bullets under six words usually need the result added; bullets over thirty words usually need splitting. Where a bullet has no number, add one you can explain, such as a count, a time or a percentage.
- Match the punctuation. If some bullets end with a period and others do not, pick one style and apply it to every bullet on the page, then paste the resume again to check.

What does the resume bullet point checker look at?
For each bullet it counts the words, checks whether the first word is an action verb, and checks whether the line has a number. Across all bullets it checks whether some end with a period and some do not. Each note is a suggestion, so keep a bullet as it is when it already reads well.
How long should a resume bullet point be?
Most strong bullets fit on one or two lines. The checker marks bullets under six words, which rarely say what the result was, and bullets over thirty words, which are hard to scan. Aim for one action and one result per bullet.
Does every bullet need a number?
No, which is why a bullet without a number gets an info note rather than a fix. Numbers such as how many customers, how much time saved or how large a budget help a reader see scale, but only add figures you can explain in an interview.
Should resume bullets end with a period?
Either style is fine. Short fragments often go without a period, and full sentences often take one. What stands out is a mix, so choose one style and use it for every bullet.
