Pay ranges employers published in 181,429 open job postings, updated Sep 30, 2026: where they come from and how we check them.
Where the numbers come from
Every figure comes from the pay ranges employers post in their job listings, which Applystead reads from employer career sites. The data is refreshed every 6 hours from the live catalog of 6,335,644 open job postings; 223,234 of them list pay and 181,429 passed the checks below. Last updated Sep 30, 2026.
The checks
We keep pay in US, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand dollars, pounds, euros, Swiss francs and Singapore dollars (1,031 postings in other currencies set aside). A range whose top is more than 3 times its bottom is too wide to use (21,548), as are zero or missing amounts (2,617). Amounts must be plausible for their period: $7 to $350 an hour, $15,000 to $2,000,000 a year or $1,000 to $100,000 a month (15,861 set aside). When a posting names the wrong period, such as a yearly amount marked hourly, we use the period the amount fits (5,882 postings).
Annual pay
Hourly pay is multiplied by 2,080 hours (40 hours a week for 52 weeks) and monthly pay by 12, so every posting has a yearly equivalent. Each posting counts once, at the midpoint of its range. Roles where most postings are hourly are shown in hourly terms with the yearly equivalent beside them.
Medians and percentiles
The median is the middle posting. The typical range is the middle half of postings (25th to 75th percentile), and the top 10% starts at the 90th percentile. A group with postings in several currencies uses its most common currency. We never show a figure from fewer than 3 postings.
Levels
Levels are read from job titles: intern and co-op titles first, then executive (chief, vice president), director and head of, principal, staff (technical roles only), senior and lead, junior and entry level; titles with none of these count as mid level. Each company’s own titles are shown as it writes them.
Base pay only
These are posted base pay ranges, not total compensation: bonuses, equity and benefits are usually not in job postings. What a person is finally offered can differ from the posted range.
Levels.fyi figures, shown separately
Some company pages also have a section labelled “Reported on Levels.fyi”: total compensation (base, stock and bonus) that people reported to Levels.fyi, with the date we retrieved it and a link to the source. These figures are self-reported and Applystead does not verify them. They are a separate source and are never combined with posted pay: no median, range, level, ranking or comparison elsewhere on these pages includes them.
