The 24 updates to Applystead that went live for every member on .
Interview cards follow rescheduled times
When an employer moves your interview, its card now follows the new time, even when that time arrives in a later email or from a different sender. While the employer is setting a new time, the round shows New time coming until it arrives. Emails from an employer's sister company are now filed under the right company.
Ask the Applystead team a question
Have a question? Open Feedback and choose Ask a question, or use the new Ask a question button on the Help page. The Applystead team replies right here in your workspace. When Otto can't answer something, he now points you there.
The Mac Assistant opens when you start it and lives in your menu bar
Applystead Assistant for Mac now opens its panel as soon as you start it, and its icon stays in the menu bar at the top of your screen. Click the icon, or press ⌘\, to show or hide the panel; right-click it to connect, open Applystead or quit. If the app can't open, it now tells you why. The setup steps on Calls say what to expect after you open it.
Workspace fixes: the logo, Auto setup, résumé notes and custom domains
The Applystead logo in your workspace now takes you to your Queue. Once Auto is on, you're no longer asked to choose Auto or Manual again. Queue options and the résumé choice now name the searches and split test that send a different résumé than your usual one. Custom domain settings now confirm that mail sent to your Applystead address keeps arriving in your Mailbox.
More visa, sponsorship and location questions answered for you
The work status and location you gave us now answer more of the visa, sponsorship, location and reference questions employers ask, so fewer of your applications wait on a question.
Behind the scenes: a daily check on how your Mailbox sorts mail
Each day we now look again at a sample of the employer emails filed in Updates and check whether any of them asks for a next step, such as booking an interview or completing an assessment. What we find helps us keep replies from people and next steps in front of you.
Behind the scenes: more applications sent on the first try
We made several improvements so more of your applications are prepared and sent right away, especially for new members.
Hundreds more employer questions answered for you
Many employers add their own questions to their application forms. We now answer hundreds more of them from the details you've already given us, and when your details leave a question open we choose the answer most likely to get you a reply, so more of your applications go out without waiting.
Tailored résumés stay about you
Your tailored résumés no longer mention the company you're applying to inside your experience or skills, so each one reads as your own work history.
Your Mailbox puts people first
Replies written by a person now sit at the top of your Inbox, under From people. Updates is sorted into Next steps, Rejections, Confirmations, Status and Job alerts, each with its unread count, so automated mail you may still want is easy to scan. Mail whose sender we can't confirm is labelled, and you can move mail from a confirmed sender between your Inbox and Updates.
We check your résumé import for anything left out
When you upload your résumé, we now compare what we read with your document. If a job is missing its details, some of your dates didn't come through, or a section such as Projects is missing, the review screen shows a short note above your résumé so you can add it before you confirm. If your PDF's text is hard to read and something seems missing, we read its pages again first.
Your Queue says plainly when nothing is sent
Your Queue now says what goes out for you. On Manual, nothing is sent until you tap Apply; on Essential, nothing is sent until you choose Auto or tap Apply. Each application also shows whether its résumé will be sent when you tap Apply, will be sent with it, or was sent with it and when, with a one-tap preview on your phone or computer.
Your own PDF and your Resume studio résumé go where you expect
If you saved your own PDF before starting a plan, your applications now send it, and waiting applications are prepared again with it. Resume studio now says which résumé your applications send, and one tap there sends your master résumé instead. Résumés imported into Resume studio now open split into their sections.
Your résumé keeps every section when it's shortened to fit
When a résumé needs shortening to fit one or two pages, we now trim extra bullet points first and keep every section you have, such as Projects and Achievements, with at least its most relevant item. A section is left out only if nothing else can be shortened.
Your new résumé waits for you until you review it
When you upload a newer résumé, it now stays ready for your review until you approve it or keep your current profile, even if you change your settings or answers in the meantime. Your workspace says "Your new résumé is ready" with a Review button. Approving it updates your profile and prepares your waiting applications again; anything already sent stays as it was.
Applications go through when your name is in capital letters
Some employers' forms show a capitalization notice when a name is written in capital letters, which used to stop those applications. Applystead now handles that notice, so applications for members whose legal name is in capitals reach employers as written.
Personal background questions default to prefer not to say
When an employer asks about your gender, race or ethnicity, veteran status, disability or similar and you haven't given us your answer, we now always choose the form's own prefer not to say option. We never pick an option that states something about you. You can set your own answers anytime on the Questions page under Applications.
More reliable application confirmations
We tightened how we check that employers received your applications, so your applications are marked accurately more often.
Step-by-step setup for campaigns from your own domain
If you're on Premium and connected a domain you already own that can't send campaigns yet, Applystead now opens its Custom domain setup when you sign in and lists just the DNS records still to add or change. Each step goes away once that record is found, and the sign-in reminder stops once you close it.
Behind the scenes: a quicker first look at each job
When you open a job we're still tailoring, its page now appears the moment you tap, even on slower phones. While your Queue is still counting your jobs it now shows a simple placeholder instead of a number. We also free up the extra room we set aside for new members' first applications as soon as it's no longer needed.
Premium searches take up to 20 job titles
On Premium, each of your searches can now hold up to 20 job titles instead of 10, in your main search and in every further search. The Criteria dialog shows how many you've used of your plan's limit. Other plans keep 10 job titles per search.
Our privacy page explains how we test new page versions
When we try a new version of one of our pages, we now count how each version does on phones, tablets and computers separately, so we can see whether it helps on every kind of device. Our privacy page now explains what these tests count, what your browser keeps and what your account's sign-up record keeps.
Choose whether your queue includes staffing agencies
Queue options has a new switch, Exclude staffing and recruiting agencies. It's off unless you turn it on, so jobs posted by staffing and recruiting firms stay in your queue. Turn it on to leave those jobs out; the switch shows how many jobs it leaves out.
Blocked applications are retried through the day
When an employer's site temporarily blocks a send, we try again three times in the first few minutes and then every eight hours until it goes through, instead of waiting longer between later tries. Nothing changes for you: the application still shows as Applied and you are not asked to do anything.
