Prorated salary calculator

Enter a yearly salary and the first and last day of a partial period, such as the weeks after a start date or before a last day. See the prorated pay and how many days it counts.

Private. Runs in your browser; nothing you type leaves your device.

Your gross salary for a full year.

For example your start date, or the first day of the pay period.

For example the end of the pay period, or your last day. Both days are counted.

How to use it

  1. Enter the yearly salary. Type the full-year gross salary from your offer letter or contract. The result is in the same currency, before tax and deductions.
  2. Choose the first and last day. Pick the first and last day you are paid for in the partial period, such as your start date and the end of that pay period. Both days count.
  3. Pick how days are counted. Choose workdays to count Monday to Friday, or calendar days to count every day. Ask payroll or check your contract to see which method your employer uses, then read the prorated pay.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate a prorated salary?

With workdays, divide the yearly salary by 260, the weekdays in 52 weeks, and multiply by the weekdays you work. Starting on 15 October 2026 with a salary of 65,000 gives 12 weekdays to 31 October, and 65,000 divided by 260 times 12 is 3,000.

Should I count workdays or calendar days?

Employers prorate in different ways, and the two methods can give different amounts for the same dates. Calendar days divide the salary by 365 and count every day, including weekends. Workdays count only Monday to Friday. Try both, then check your contract or ask payroll which one they use.

Are public holidays skipped?

No. The workday count includes every Monday to Friday between the two dates, so a public holiday on a weekday is counted as a paid day. That matches salaried pay where holidays are paid, but check your payslip if your employer treats them differently.

Can I use it for a final paycheck?

Yes. Enter the first day of your last pay period and your last day of work to see the salary for those days. Any unused time off, bonus or other amount due is separate, so add it yourself using the terms in your contract or handbook.
