Notice period calculator
Enter the day you hand in your notice and the notice length from your contract or offer. See the date your notice ends and how many calendar days that is.
Private. Runs in your browser; nothing you type leaves your device.
Your results
- Last day = the date you give notice plus the notice length in calendar days, weeks or months; the working days option skips Saturdays and Sundays and applies to days only.
- Counting starts the day after you give notice. Check whether your contract or handbook counts the notice day itself, which would make your last day one day earlier.
- Public holidays are not skipped, so adjust the date if your terms leave them out.
How to use it
- Pick the date you give notice. Choose the day you plan to hand in or send your notice. If you have not decided yet, try a few dates to see how each one moves your last day.
- Enter the notice length. Type the length from your contract, offer letter or handbook as a whole number, and choose whether it is counted in days, weeks or months.
- Choose working days if needed. If your notice is a number of working days, choose yes to skip Saturdays and Sundays. This setting only changes the result when the notice is counted in days.
- Read your last day. The results show the date your notice ends and the number of calendar days from the day you gave notice, so you can plan a start date or a break.

Frequently asked questions
Does the day I give notice count as the first day?
That depends on your contract or handbook. This calculator starts counting the day after you give notice, so two weeks from a Monday ends on the Monday two weeks later. If your terms count the notice day itself, your last day is one day earlier.
How does it count a notice period in months?
It moves to the same day of the month the given number of months later, so one month from 15 March is 15 April. If that month is shorter, it uses its last day, so one month from 31 January ends on the last day of February. Check how your contract treats this.
Does it skip public holidays?
No. The working days option skips Saturdays and Sundays only. If your notice is counted in working days and a holiday falls inside it, move the result on by one day for each holiday your employer does not count.
How long a notice period should I give?
Use the length in your contract, offer letter or employee handbook, since that is what you agreed to. If you are unsure, ask your manager or HR contact to confirm the length and how it is counted before you hand in your notice.
Is my information stored anywhere?
No. The calculator runs in your browser and nothing you type leaves your device. It is free and needs no account, so you can try as many notice dates as you like.
