How to use it
- Fill in the details. Enter the name of your contact, the company and the job title. The email updates as you type, and nothing you enter leaves your browser.
- Pick how far you got. Use the after-interview version for an early or middle round, and the after-final-round version when you reached the last stage and met the wider team.
- Send it and let it go. Copy the email, reply in the same thread as the rejection, and send it within a few days. If no feedback comes, take that calmly and move on to your next application.

After an interview
Subject: Re: Customer Success Manager at Northwind Health
Hi Dana,
Thank you for letting me know about the Customer Success Manager role, and for the time you spent speaking with me. I understand and respect the decision.
I am always working to improve, so if you have a moment, I would be grateful for any brief feedback on my application or interview. Even one or two points on what would have made me a stronger candidate would help me a great deal.
Thank you again for considering me for a role at Northwind Health.
Best regards,
Priya Nair

Frequently asked questions
Is it okay to ask for feedback after being rejected?
Yes. A polite, specific request is a normal professional step and shows you want to improve. Keep it short, make it easy to answer, and make clear you are not asking them to reconsider the decision.
Who should I ask for feedback?
Ask the person you have been in contact with, usually the recruiter or the hiring manager. If a recruiter sent the rejection, reply to them rather than writing separately to each interviewer.
What if they do not reply?
Some employers do not share feedback as a matter of habit or policy, so silence is not a comment on you. Send one request only, and if nothing comes back after a week or so, let it go.
How should I respond if I do get feedback?
Thank them briefly, whatever the feedback says. Do not argue with it or explain it away. Note what you can act on for your next interview, and keep the relationship warm for future openings.
Is my information sent anywhere?
No. This template runs in your browser: the text is filled in on this page as you type, and nothing you enter is sent to Applystead or anyone else. You copy the finished text and use it from your own account.
