PRODUCT UPDATES

What’s new on October 5, 2026

The 63 updates to Applystead that went live for every member on .

Behind the scenes: your matches stay in your queue

Jobs no longer drop out of your queue or Jobs list for a while because of work on our side. Apply to them like any other job.

Behind the scenes: your Free applications are ready sooner

We made preparing Free applications steadier, so your 10 daily Free applications are ready for you to review sooner.

Behind the scenes: a steadier watch on how Applystead runs

We keep a steadier, faster watch on how Applystead is running, so if something slows down we notice and fix it sooner. We also count Premium free trials more carefully: a trial now counts as a paid membership only once its first payment goes through.

See why AI answered, and check its answers faster

Answers AI writes for you now show what they're based on, from your resume or profile, or say when nothing in your profile backs them, so you can check those first. Answers used on the most applications come first. Keep or mark answers wrong in one tap, keep a whole page at once, and see how many you've checked.

Send your review to the team privately

Not happy with something? In the review card you can now send your rating and comments straight to the Applystead team instead of publishing them. Choose three stars or fewer, or untick Publish, and pick “Send it to the team privately instead”. Published reviews work as before.

Your applications keep their resume and confirmation email

Your applications now keep the resume made for each one on its record, and when an employer emails you a confirmation, you can read it in that application's Confirmation tab.

Clearer queue: what each group is

Your queue now says what each group is: for prepared applications, check your resume and answers, then Apply; jobs Ready to apply take one tap while Applystead prepares your resume and fills in the employer's form. When jobs need your answers, the queue says how many and opens the questions to answer.

Your Mailbox now shows what's waiting in Updates

Updates now shows how many messages it holds. If your Inbox has no replies yet, it tells you how many confirmations, rejections and codes are in Updates and links you straight there.

Mailbox

Suggested emails now wait for you in your Mailbox

Suggested emails, the first drafts to people at companies you applied to, have moved from Applications to your Mailbox. A note above your Inbox and a notification under the bell open them in their own window, where you review each draft before anything is sent. The bell lights up when a new draft is waiting.

Profile

Add a profile photo, and show it on resumes you make in Resume studio

My profile now has a Profile photo. Take or upload a photo of yourself and choose whether it shows beside your name on the resumes you make in Resume studio; it stays off until you turn it on. A photo you send while setting up or filling your profile that has no resume text in it can now be kept as your profile photo instead of being left out.

Queue

Behind the scenes: preparing applications keeps moving at busy times

Our servers used to line up, one after another, to note which job sites they were preparing applications for. At busy moments, such as during updates, that line slowed the preparation of your applications and the search for new matching jobs. They now skip a note another server has just made and never wait in that line, so your applications and new matches keep moving.

Turn the resume summary on or off while you review an application

The resume tab of a prepared application in your queue now has the “Summary on resumes made for each job” switch. It asks before preparing your waiting applications again with your choice, and links to Resume studio for your other resume settings.

Behind the scenes: your applications move faster

One slow employer site no longer holds up your applications to other employers. Busy employer sites get more computing room, so each application finishes faster. When many applications are ready, more of them go out at the same time. And when an employer site asks us to slow down, your application waits its turn quietly and continues on its own.

Turn on Auto apply right from your queue

If you review each application yourself and several are ready to send, your queue now offers to turn on Auto apply. With Auto apply on, Applystead sends each ready application that fits your settings, so you no longer approve them one at a time. Not interested? Choose Not now and the offer stays out of your way for two weeks.

Queue

Every application ready for you now has its own Apply button

In your queue, each application that is ready for you now ends with an Apply button, on phones and computers alike. One tap sends its prepared resume and answers. Tapping the job itself still opens it, so you can check the application first.

Profile

A shorter setup review, and a workspace that opens sooner

When you review your profile during setup, the details read from your resume now fold into one line that you can open to check or edit, and so does the list of industries, so the questions employers ask, your work authorization and your search are what you see. Your workspace also loads in the background while you review, so your queue opens sooner when you finish.

Answers

Resume facts and your answer library no longer wait on a busy AI

When our main AI service is busy, a backup AI takes over. The backup could not read the key facts on your resume, such as a security clearance, or tidy a Premium answer library, so those waited for our main AI. Now the backup handles both.

Applications

Applications with long degree and field of study lists now go through

Some job sites ask you to pick your degree or field of study from a long searchable list that loads in pages. These applications used to wait. We now read the whole list and choose the entry that exactly matches your saved answer or the field of study on your profile. If no single entry matches, we ask you to pick one before anything is sent.

Mailbox

Employer emails reach your mailbox sooner when our AI is busy

Before an employer email appears in your Applystead mailbox, an AI check sorts it. When our main AI service was busy, that check had to wait for a later retry, which could hold the email back. A backup AI now answers it right away. Behind the scenes, we also switched off an unused part of our AI setup.

Profile

A hard-to-read photo won't block an import with readable content

During signup, on the start page or in Resume studio, if you add a photo with too little readable text alongside your resume or another readable source, that photo is left out, the rest is read and we tell you which photo it was. A photo alone with no readable words is still refused. In My profile, Fill from my resume now turns a resume photo upright and resizes it on your device first.

Queue

New matching jobs reach your queue sooner

Applystead now looks through newly listed jobs for your search faster than before, so jobs that match you reach your queue, and get their applications prepared, sooner.

Profile

Signing up now grows a garden as you set up your profile

Getting started looks like the rest of Applystead now. As you add your resume and review your draft profile, a small garden grows with each step and blooms when your profile is saved, and Otto moves along with you. On devices with power to spare, pollen drifts behind the page by day and fireflies glow in the dark theme. With reduced motion on, everything stays still.

More applications on Workable career sites get prepared

We now read job pages on Workable career sites more reliably, so more of your applications to those jobs are prepared and ready to send. This update also brings behind-the-scenes improvements that help applications on Workday, Ashby and other career sites go through.

Behind the scenes: groundwork for sites that confirm your email first

We are preparing Applystead to apply on employer career sites that ask you to confirm your email before you apply. Until that works on a site, applications waiting for it keep their place and go out once it does.

Interviews

Interview invitations in your notifications, and thank-yous ready to send

When an employer emails you an interview invitation about one of your applications, Applystead now spots it, asks you to confirm it in your notifications, adds it to Interviews and emails you. Afterwards we ask whether the interview happened, and after any interview a thank-you email is drafted and ready to send, with a reminder. You can turn these emails off under My profile.

Behind the scenes: a closer eye on the newest features

Our view of how Applystead runs now follows nine more kinds of requests by name, among them Otto in 3D, the live applied counts, the Free job list and interview follow-ups, so a slow or failing request there is spotted and fixed sooner. Nothing about your data or what you see changes.

Queue

Free now prepares 10 applications a day for you

On the Free plan, Applystead now prepares up to 10 applications a day from the jobs that match your search, on every job site we apply through: each one filled in with your resume and your answers, ready for you to approve with one tap. Nothing is sent until you approve it. Your 10 start fresh every day; Standard prepares up to 200 a day.

Ask Otto

Ask Applystead is now Ask Otto

Your job search chat has a new name and a fresh look. Otto now answers your questions himself and follows along: he listens while you type, thinks while an answer is on its way, and holds up what you asked about, like a briefcase for interviews or a scale for pay. Suggested questions, a clearer coaching setup and a roomier message box make it easier to use, on your phone too.

Workspace

Menus in your workspace open faster

Moving between Applications, Mailbox, Calendar, Interviews and the rest of your workspace is quicker. A menu starts loading as soon as you point at it or tap it, and a menu you come back to shows what it already had right away while it checks for anything new. Each switch now fades in smoothly; with reduced motion turned on, menus simply appear.

Applications

No more second applications when a job is listed twice

Some employers list the same job more than once. When those listings named only the country, Applystead could apply to each copy. Now the same job title at the same employer in the same country counts as one job, so you apply once. Until we know each listing's city, the same title in another of that employer's offices in that country also counts as that one job.

Search criteria

Two new search filters: employer sites only, and employers with H-1B filings

In your search criteria, two new switches narrow your matches. Only jobs not posted on job boards leaves out jobs we found on job boards, so you see postings from employers' own career sites. Only employers with H-1B filings keeps companies with H-1B labor condition applications on file with the US Department of Labor; a filing is not a promise to sponsor you.

Analytics

Heat map colors now fit the area you're looking at

The maps in Analytics and in your search criteria now set their colors from the places on your screen: the busiest, best-paid place in view always glows brightest, and quieter places in view still show. Zoom into a state or a city and its own hot spots stand out. The colors follow the map as you drag, zoom or spin the globe, and the maps redraw faster than before.

Membership

Upgrade from the top of your workspace

On the Free plan, a large Upgrade button now sits at the top of the workspace menu, so moving to Standard or Premium is one step away. Membership is no longer in the menu for anyone: open it from Help, under Your account, with Review membership.

Queue

Your queue keeps its place when the job list refreshes

We refresh the list of open jobs every few hours. Until now, each refresh sent the search that fills your queue back to the start of the list, so with a broad search it could take more than a day to look at every job. The search now carries on from where it was in the refreshed list, so your queue reaches every job that matches your search sooner.

Applications

Applied counts and lists now update as each job is applied

While your queue or Applications is open, your Applied counts now keep up with your applications as they happen. When Auto apply, or you on another device, applies to a job, its card is knocked off your queue into "Applied in the last 24 hours" and it appears at the top of Applications, marked New. With reduced motion on, the lists simply update.

Behind the scenes: job maps are built in the background

Job maps, and the job lists shown while you set up your account, are now built on our background servers instead of on the servers that answer your pages. Your maps and job lists look and work as before.

Behind the scenes: the same service with less idle capacity

We trimmed capacity that sat idle and background work that repeated itself: routine updates no longer start extra servers, usage totals are reused for a few seconds instead of recounted on every request, reports refresh on a steady schedule, and our servers share work more tightly. Your queue, applications and pages work exactly as before.

Queue

One cold email per company, and an option to apply to one job per company

Applied to several roles at one company? Suggested emails now offer one cold email there, not one per role, since several emails to one company at once lower your odds of a reply. A new Auto apply setting in Queue options, "Apply to only one job at a company at a time" (off unless you turn it on), skips other jobs at a company until 30 days after applying there or until that application closes.

Queue

Cold email for jobs in every country

Cold email now shows on every job, not just jobs in the US. Applystead looks for the recruiters and hiring managers at employers in any country, so you can write to the right person about a role wherever it is.

Behind the scenes: sending follows the work on each job site

When a job site has nothing to send, we check it less often and still start new work right away. Each site's sending starts when applications are waiting and stops when none are, with more server room at busy times. Workable postings are checked at one steady pace that slows when Workable asks. Saved-search maps rebuild a few at a time after job list refreshes, keeping the service responsive.

Queue

Behind the scenes: one job list refresh at a time

An old copy of the job list refresh kept starting again about once a day beside the regular refresh and rebuilt the job list a second time with older rules. It is now switched off, which takes load off the systems behind your workspace. The job list is also now built in the same order every time. Your queue and job lists work as before.

Behind the scenes: sturdier sending on more job sites

We fixed several things that could stop an application partway on some job sites: answers you typed are now checked against what the site saved before sending, jobs a site does not list publicly are applied to from their own posting page, required work and education sections are filled in, and sign-in and security steps wait for the site to finish.

Applications

Cover letters for forms that need a file

On many employer sites, when an application asks for a cover letter as a file and nothing else, Applystead now attaches your approved cover letter as a PDF, so the application goes out instead of waiting.

Queue

More open roles in your matches and on the hiring pulse

Applystead now counts every open role it finds on employers' own career sites and on job boards, except LinkedIn. That includes roles on employer sites we can't apply to automatically yet, so the hiring pulse shows far more open roles and your matches can include them. When you apply to one of these roles, it shows as Applied, and we send it as soon as we can apply on that site.

Answers

AI answers never save a placeholder

AI no longer saves a placeholder such as "null" as one of your answers. The few it saved before are removed, and their questions are asked again, so employers only see real answers.

Applications

Autofill's keyword check reads only the job description

When you check keywords with the Applystead Autofill extension, it now compares your resume with the job description alone. Menus, buttons and other text on the page no longer show up as keywords you're missing.

Answers

We ask you once about demographic questions

When an employer's form asks a voluntary demographic question, such as gender, ethnicity, veteran or disability status, and we don't have your answer yet, we now ask you once instead of setting the application aside. Some applications that stopped at such a question are back in your queue, waiting for your answer.

Queue

Ready to apply lists your best matches first

Jobs under Ready to apply in your queue are now ordered by how well they match you, highest match first, and jobs we haven't analyzed yet come last. The buttons on every job card now line up from one card to the next: Apply and Pass sit in the same place on each card and are the same size on phones, tablets and computers.

Queue

Get to your first jobs sooner after you sign up

Setting up is quicker. On Free, your job list starts loading while you review your profile, so your first jobs are waiting when you finish, and each application you send takes you straight to the next job. On a paid plan, your first applications are prepared in their own fast lane, and approving your profile also confirms your applying address. The welcome note no longer blocks your queue.

Workspace

Behind the scenes: lighter page checks and a closer eye on new features

An open workspace page now lets Applystead know you're there at most once every five minutes; before, each page you opened did so up to three times. We can also now follow requests to our newest features step by step, so we find the cause of a slowdown sooner. Nothing you see changes.

Search criteria

Metro area searches keep to the area

When your search names a metro area, a job that isn't remote has to be in a town we can place in that area. A posting in a place we can't locate no longer reaches your queue just because it lists your country. And when you change your settings, jobs that no longer fit them are marked No longer eligible sooner.

Behind the scenes: steadier application preparation and sending

Your exact work dates, reasons for leaving, school state and weekly availability now reach every step that prepares your applications, including résumé tailoring and question answers. Applications to more employer sites also finish the way each site expects: we wait for the site's own security check, keep your picks in searchable lists and recognize more confirmation pages.

Behind the scenes: a longer, steadier view of how Applystead runs

Our view of how Applystead is running now keeps more than a month of history instead of about a week, and its regular check asks a third as much of the database, so it no longer drops out when the service is busy. It helps us spot problems sooner and keep Applystead affordable as it grows.

Answers

AI answers more of your application questions

AI now answers essay questions about your skills and experience in your own words, and handles yes-or-no and multiple-choice questions more reliably. When an answer it writes can't be used, it tries once more before leaving the question to you. It still never makes up contact details, links or records you haven't given us.

Applications

Applystead Autofill works on any application page

Download the Applystead Autofill extension for Chrome from Help. On the application page you have open it fills your details, attaches your resume, suggests answers from your saved answers (drafts stay unticked until you choose them), shows your match, checks the posting's keywords against your resume and adds the job to your tracker. It never submits for you. Free: 10 drafted answers a day.

Workspace

Otto's arms now curl and sway where you can see them

On devices with graphics acceleration, Otto now moves enough to notice: his arms curl and uncurl, each in its own time, as he breathes and bobs. He moves wherever he appears, including the page-not-found page and the thank-you after you send feedback; beside a doorway or a garden, only Otto moves. He starts after the page loads and stays still if your device is set to reduce motion.

Membership

Plan and comparison pages list what's new

The pricing page and the comparison pages now list match scores, Ask Applystead, interview practice question sets, job alerts and Word resume downloads, so you can see what each plan includes before you choose.

Queue

Auto apply asks before applying to close matches

Turning on Auto apply now asks which jobs to apply to: only jobs that match all your settings, or also close matches when your queue runs low. It asks the common application questions up front too. In Queue options you can change your choice anytime and see right away how each setting changes the jobs Auto apply can reach.

Search criteria

Your places and job titles are matched more precisely

If your search names only cities or regions, a job must say it is there, or be remote, to reach your queue; listing just a country no longer counts. Titles written another way now match: "Director, Product Management" counts for "Director of Product Management". Hotel and building engineering roles no longer fill software engineering searches.

Workspace

See what happened while you were away

On a paid plan, when you come back after a few hours, Applystead now shows what happened while you were away: the jobs applied to for you, new messages from employers and interviews added, with a short summary. Your queue and Applications also show the jobs applied in the last 24 hours as they happen.

Profile

Start with your résumé: your profile is drafted while you sign up

You can now upload your résumé before you create an account. Our AI starts drafting your profile right away, so it is ready to review by the time your account is, with fewer steps along the way. If the résumé has your email address, it is filled in for you. If you don't create an account, the draft is deleted after 7 days.

Profile

Your AI profile draft is ready sooner

When you add your résumé during setup, by upload or paste, our AI now drafts your profile typically in about half the time, so you can review it and get to your jobs sooner. Scanned PDFs with several pages are read faster too. Your draft covers the same roles, highlights and details as before, and you still review everything before it's saved.
