Answers
Your setup answers fill more employer questions
When an employer asks, in its own wording, whether you're 18 or older, willing to relocate or work on-site, hold a security clearance, or have worked for that company before, your applications now use the answer you already gave us instead of asking you again.
Behind the scenes: many more jobs checked against your preferences
We now read job postings several times faster, including postings on employer sites we could not read before, so far more openings are checked against the roles, places and other preferences you choose. More of the jobs that fit you can now reach your Queue and job lists.
Salaries
Easier salary lookups, now with charts
Salary search now understands a job title, company or city typed alone or together, like "software engineer in Seattle" or "Netflix software engineer". It forgives typos and short forms like "swe" or "nyc", suggests matches as you type and opens with the best match's pay range. Salary pages now chart pay by experience level, remote against on-site, and median pay by role, company and city.
More employer terms are answered for you
Statements that employment would be at will, and more background-check and screening notices, are now answered for you instead of waiting in your Answer library. Questions about you still come to you.
Jobs listed in New York now count when your locations say New York City
If your job search names New York City, jobs whose listing says only New York now count too, so they can reach your queue. Towns elsewhere that share part of the name, like New York Mills in Minnesota, still stay out.
Approvals from before Oct 2 now show when you approved them
If a job you approved came back for another look after it was updated, its row now says when you approved it, including approvals made before October 2. Jobs that Auto apply handled for you never say you approved them.
Internship searches now find only internships
If your job titles are internships, Applystead now matches you only with internship postings for those roles, including ones that spell it "Internship". Full-time roles at the same level are no longer added for you. Junior and graduate titles still include the role's mid-level openings.
Auto apply sticks to the places you chose
Auto apply now sends only to jobs that say they're in one of your places. Jobs that don't say where they are wait unless you turn on "Include jobs that don't say where they are" in Queue options, and your queue shows how many there are.
See which title found each job, and exclude titles you don't want
Each job in your queue now says which of your job titles found it. In Jobs & locations you can list up to 10 words or phrases to keep out of your job titles, and jobs whose title contains one are left out.
Thanks to Niklas N. for their feedback.
Questions only an employer's form can answer now link to it
When an employer's question can't be answered here, for example a choice whose options we couldn't read, your Answer library now links straight to the employer's form instead of showing an empty text box, and AI won't guess an answer. Where the form adds its own explanation, we now show it under the question.
Answer job-specific questions job by job
When an employer asks about "the technologies mentioned" or "this role", your Answer library now lists each job asking it with the skills its posting requires, and lets you answer for each job separately. Any job without its own answer uses your main answer.
Places in job titles now go where they belong
If you type a city into your job titles, we now offer to move it to your locations, and a city in a job title no longer pulls unrelated jobs into your list.
Thanks to Niklas N. for their feedback.
Section rewrites show progress and explain themselves
When you regenerate a resume section, Applystead now shows that it's working (it takes about 20 seconds), tries again without anything your profile can't back up, and if it still can't, tells you which part couldn't be supported so you can adjust your instructions or edit the text.
Know what to expect before your first applications go out
When Auto apply is on and nothing has been sent for you yet, your queue now says your first applications go out as soon as they're ready and how many jobs we've found for you so far. The cancellation questions say so too, so you can decide with the full picture.
Employer consent questions are answered for you
Questions asking you to agree to an employer's privacy notice, terms or hiring steps, such as background screening or interview recordings, are now answered for you and no longer wait in your Answer library. Questions about you, like your experience or where you can work, still come to you. Your Answer library now also holds up to 2,000 saved answers.
Your Queue opens with its counts much sooner
The ready and waiting counts at the top of your Queue page now come from a quick check of only what changed since they were last counted, instead of going through your whole application history again, so your Queue opens with its counts much sooner, even if you have applied to thousands of jobs.
Apply to your next Free job right after you apply
On Free you no longer wait before starting your next application: once you apply, the next job is open. Your Job queue also explains how Free works: what makes a job ready to apply, how many jobs you can apply to each day, and the exact time your daily count resets, in your own time zone.
Thanks to Ian C. for their feedback.
Free job lists skip sites that don't take Free applications
Your Free job list, its counts and your job alerts now leave out jobs from employer sites that don't accept applications sent on the Free plan, so you don't spend time on forms that can't go through. Standard and Premium still apply to those jobs for you.
Thanks to Ian C. for their feedback.
Profile setup asks each question once
Setting up your profile no longer asks about work authorization, visa sponsorship, salary, city or portfolio twice. The salary you want employers to see is now clearly separate from the minimum pay for your job matches, and the question about past ties to employers is easier to read.
Thanks to Ian C. for their feedback.
A lighter Applystead on your phone
On phones, your Job queue, your Free job list and profile setup now read as one clean page instead of boxes inside boxes, and the email-confirmation reminder takes less of your screen. Buttons stay just as easy to tap.
Thanks to Ian C. for their feedback.
Behind the scenes: steadier preparation and fresher Queue counts
Applications that stalled partway through being prepared now pick up again on their own instead of waiting. Upkeep of your queue also runs more smoothly behind the scenes, and the ready and waiting counts at the top of your Queue page stay up to date.
Fewer questions: more answered from your profile
Applications now answer more questions from what's already in your profile instead of asking you again: where you live, in the employer's own wording (like “City, State” or “Current Address”), whether you're currently employed, and your highest level of education. Setup asks for your postal code and street address once, so applications that need them don't stop to ask.
Behind the scenes: short place names cover their metro area
Where we read the places you typed word for word, short names such as SF, NYC and Washington DC now cover their whole metro area, so jobs in places like Oakland, Brooklyn or Arlington count too.
A whole country in your locations now covers every job there
When one of your locations is a whole country, such as Singapore or the United Kingdom, every job listed there now counts, including jobs that name only a district, like Tuas in Singapore, or no city at all. Jobs in other countries still stay out.
More Singapore jobs and more accurate job locations
We now find jobs from more Singapore job boards, including public-sector employers. We also read job locations more carefully, so more jobs show the right city and country and your location preferences match them more accurately.
Thanks to N.G. for their feedback.
Closed job postings cleared from your searches
We checked the jobs your searches show against employers' own job sites and cleared thousands of postings that had already closed, so your count of jobs you can apply to is more accurate. Behind the scenes, the parts of Applystead that prepare your applications and keep your queue up to date also got more room, so they run more smoothly.
More local jobs for members in Australia, New Zealand and Europe
Applystead now understands Australian states and territories and regions across New Zealand and Europe when it reads where a job is, so thousands more jobs there show the right country and reach members looking for work there. Pay written in dollars on Australian, Canadian and New Zealand jobs is now read in the local currency instead of US dollars.
Behind the scenes: your queue refills sooner
Jobs an employer has taken down, and jobs whose application site can't take the resume file you chose, now leave your queue right away instead of holding a spot, so it fills with open roles sooner. We also added capacity so your applications go out more steadily.
Emails open instantly in your Mailbox
Opening an email in your Mailbox is now immediate: the conversations at the top of your list are made ready while you look at it, so a click shows the email at once, and any other email opens in a fraction of a second. Long conversations open on their newest messages and bring in older ones when you ask, so even a very full mailbox stays quick.
Mark jobs you already applied to yourself
Jobs ready for your review now have Already applied next to Pass. If you applied to a job on your own, tap it and that job leaves your queue for good.
Thanks to N.G. for their feedback.
See when a job you approved needs another look
If a job you approved changes before we send it, it comes back to your queue with a note saying when you approved it, so you can check it and apply again.
Thanks to N.G. for their feedback.
Answer library shows where more jobs are
When we learn where a job is after it reached your Answer library, the library now shows its location instead of Location not listed.
Thanks to N.G. for their feedback.
Resume studio: every role gets a bold heading
A role whose title starts with a lowercase letter now gets a bold heading like your other roles. When you ask the assistant for a change it can't make, like titles, dates or layout, it now tells you where to make it.
Your applied jobs load faster
The Applications page now reloads only the applications that changed since you last looked, so your list of applied jobs opens and refreshes faster, especially while you keep the page open.
Applications now go through for more employers
Applications to employers that use another widely used hiring system now go through. Your answers and approvals work the same way as before.
Answer the questions employers ask most just once
Three questions employers often ask (whether a relative works at a company you might apply to, whether you're bound by a non-compete, and whether you can do a job's essential functions) are now asked once, in setup and in your Answer library, and your answer is used wherever it applies. Work authorization and sponsorship questions your saved answers already settle are no longer asked again.
What's new has a page for every day
What's new now opens on the latest days of changes. Each day of updates has its own page you can link to, with links to the day before and the day after it, and every earlier day is listed at the bottom of What's new with how many updates it had.
Behind the scenes: applications go out sooner
We can now prepare and send more applications at the same time, so the applications you approve reach employers sooner. How you review and approve them is unchanged.
Behind the scenes: job posts with no description are set aside
When an employer publishes a job post with no description at all, we now set it aside for a day instead of preparing it again and again, so that time goes to jobs you can apply to.
More questions show their choices
When an employer's form asks a question with set answers, such as which office you would work from, your Answer library now shows the employer's choices for many more of those questions. You pick one instead of typing an answer that might not fit, and questions that take more than one answer say "Choose all that apply".
Thanks to N.G. for their feedback.
Search a whole metro area
You can now add a metro area, such as San Francisco Bay Area or Seattle metro area, as one of your locations in Jobs & locations. It counts as one place that covers its cities: a Bay Area search finds jobs in San Jose, Oakland and Palo Alto, and a Seattle search finds jobs in Bellevue and Redmond. Cities outside the area, such as Los Angeles or Portland, stay out.
Thanks to N.G. for their feedback.
Behind the scenes: a busy job board no longer holds up your applications
When a job board briefly shows a busy page instead of the job, we now wait a moment and open it again, so more of your applications are prepared on the first pass instead of waiting for a later try.
Otto's thank-you shows up right away
When you send feedback, Otto's thank-you picture is ready the moment the thank-you appears instead of loading a beat later, and pages no longer download it before you open Feedback. The homepage also loads a lighter picture of Otto.
Faster Answer library, and no slowdowns while answers are prepared
Your Answer library opens faster when nothing in it has changed. And while we prepare suggested answers for the questions employers ask you, the rest of Applystead keeps running at full speed instead of pausing for a few seconds.
Run up to three searches at once
On a paid plan you can now keep up to three searches. Open Jobs & locations and choose Add search: each search has its own job titles, locations, remote setting and salary target, and the settings under "Shared by all your searches" apply to every one. Your current search stays as Search 1, so nothing changes until you add another.
Thanks to N.G. for their feedback.
More reliable employer forms
Forms use your saved information more reliably. Your approval choices are unchanged.
Behind the scenes: test job postings stay out of your queue
Some employers publish practice postings that say not to apply. We now keep those out of every queue, so the time spent preparing your applications goes to real jobs.
Meet Otto, your job search companion
Otto, a calm little octopus in a green neckerchief, now keeps you company in Applystead. He greets you by the time of day on your job queue, cheers your milestones on the Dashboard, joins you for interview prep, Help and What's new, and if a link leads nowhere, he helps you find your way back home.
Auto can skip jobs that don't say where they are
Queue options now has Skip jobs that don't say where they are. Turn it on and Auto applies only to jobs whose posting names one of your places, or says it's remote when you chose remote. It's off unless you turn it on.
Choose the seniority of the jobs you want
Jobs & locations now has Seniority. Pick Internship, Entry level, Mid level, Senior, Staff and principal, or Director and executive, and jobs at other levels, read from their titles, are left out of your queue and job list. Leave them all off to see every level.
Add a screenshot to your feedback
When you send feedback from your workspace, you can now attach a screenshot, so we see exactly what you see. Only the Applystead team sees it.
Cancelling your membership works the first time
Cancelling could ask you to try again even though it had already gone through. It now confirms on the first try, and your answers to the cancellation questions are kept once.
A reply when we can't build what you asked for
When you ask for something we can't build, we now tell you why in the app instead of leaving your request unanswered.
Applications prepared faster
We added room to the part of Applystead that prepares your applications and checks new jobs against your search. Applications are now prepared faster, and new matches reach your queue sooner, including right after we refresh our job listings.
Saving your search keeps ready applications
When you change your job titles or places, applications that are already ready for you and still fit your new search now stay ready, so you don't wait for them to be prepared again. Any that no longer fit come off your list.
Thanks to N.G. for their feedback.
Your Auto apply queue opens faster
With Auto apply on, your queue now looks only at the applications that are ready to send, instead of reading through your whole application history first, so it appears sooner when you open it.
Applications opens faster
Your Applications page now arrives with your application history already in it, instead of fetching the history again after the page appears, so your applications show sooner.
Behind the scenes: jobs matching your search are checked sooner
We now check the requirements of the jobs that match your search first, and spend that work only on jobs you can apply to, so more of the jobs waiting in your queue become ready sooner.
Fewer questions, and where you live asked only once
We now answer the consent questions applying needs, such as acknowledging an employer's privacy notice or terms, and turn down optional extras like marketing texts and talent pools. Vague catch-all questions are gone. And once you've told us your city or where you're located, those questions use your answer, whether or not you added your region or country.
Thanks to fred for their feedback.
Feedback now has one place on every page
On phones and tablets, Feedback is now the last tab in the row at the top of the page. On larger screens it sits in the menu on the left, below your main pages. It stays in the same place on every page and no longer covers your jobs, totals or buttons.
Behind the scenes: less time spent on jobs that can't be applied to
When an employer unlists a job, or its application form asks for something we can't fill in yet, we now set that job aside for a day instead of preparing it again and again, so preparation time goes to the jobs you can apply to.
Applications open every time
Saving your answers on an application could leave it stuck on "Loading your private application record". Applications now open every time, on your phone and on a computer.
Thanks to fred for their feedback.
Choose the languages you work in
Jobs & locations now has Languages you can work in, and jobs whose title asks for a language you didn't choose are left out. Jobs clearly located in another country are left out too, and new jobs for a Remote search must say they're remote.
Thanks to N.G. for their feedback.
See each job's pay beside its salary question
Salary questions in your Answer library now show each job's posted pay, or an estimate only where it holds for that place, and No pay listed otherwise. You can save desired pay for a currency and period, for example EUR per year, and Answer library salary questions in that currency and period use it.
Thanks to N.G. for their feedback.
A truer waiting count and clearer daily limits
Your waiting count no longer includes duplicate listings of the same job. When you reach your daily limit, your queue now tells you exactly when you can apply again.
See what's left before you approve your profile
If something you asked for during setup is beyond what your search can check, like a company size or a salary in another currency, your profile review now lists it right above Approve, with one button to continue without it. You always know what's left before you approve.
Ask for the features you want: most are built in under 24 hours
The Feedback button now starts with what you'd like us to build: pick Feature request, Problem, Praise or Other with one tap, and after you send, the dialog thanks you and lets you add another idea right away. Most requested features are built in under 24 hours. As we thank members for what their feedback leads to, the dialog, Help and your welcome will also show how long that took on average.
Faster queue counts, and applications ready sooner
Your queue's ready and waiting counts now load much faster, even if you have applied to thousands of jobs, and your applications are prepared sooner.
Cleaner message previews in your Mailbox
The one-line preview under each conversation in your Mailbox now shows the email's words, instead of formatting codes some senders include in their messages.
Your workspace opens sooner
Your workspace now starts loading the moment you sign in, and your account details arrive faster, so your queue, Applications and Answer library open sooner.
Behind the scenes: we keep preparing jobs that aren't ready yet
Applications that aren't ready yet are now prepared again automatically over the following days, without you doing anything, so more of the jobs in your queue can become ready to send.
Edit your saved answers on your phone
Every answer in your Answer library now shows Edit, so you can change or remove an answer on your phone as easily as on a computer. Answers AI wrote for you still have Looks right beside them, for the ones that are already right.
Thanks to Fedz for their feedback.
Answers saved counts every answer you keep
The Answers saved count at the top of your Answer library now includes answers written by AI, so it matches the number shown under Your answers. Before, members whose answers were all written by AI could see a count of 0.
Know when your applications are sent
Applystead now emails you when your applications are sent, with applications sent close together in one email, at most one an hour. Turn it off any time in the Email settings of My profile. On the API page you can also add a webhook to get each sent application on your own server or in a Discord or Slack channel; webhooks are free with Premium.
Thanks to Josh R. for their feedback.
See where each waiting job is in your Answer library
Each question in your Answer library now shows where the jobs waiting on it are, and you can mark a job Not interested right there. Questions with set choices show those choices next to your earlier answer. If Improve with AI can't help, we say why and it doesn't count toward your daily rewrites, and salary answers stay as you wrote them.
Thanks to N.G. for their feedback.
Send feedback from inside any window
The Feedback button stays available while a window such as Jobs & locations is open, and you can point at anything inside it, so we can see exactly which part you mean.
Thanks to John D. for their feedback.
Record calls in your browser on Linux, Windows and ChromeOS
In the Assistant, choose Record a call, pick the tab your call is in and allow your microphone. Your computer turns the call into text itself, and the audio never leaves it. Afterwards you read the transcript and keep it, filed under its interview, or discard it. Works in Chrome, Edge and Brave.
Thanks to John D. for their feedback.
"Need your answers" counts what you can do now
The Need your answers count on your queue now shows the jobs you can move forward right away, with the rest on their own line. When your Answer library is empty, it says why, and new questions arrive sooner after you finish a batch.
