How to use it
- Paste your whole resume. The answer uses only what your resume states, so include your current role, past jobs, results with their numbers and your main skills.
- Name the role you are interviewing for. Write the job title from the posting. The answer picks the parts of your background that fit that role and ends on why you want it.

How should I answer tell me about yourself?
Keep it about your working life. A simple order works well: what you do now, one or two past experiences or results that fit this job, and why you want this role next. Leave out your full life story and personal details the job does not need.
How long should the answer be?
About a minute when spoken is a good length, long enough to show your fit and short enough to keep the conversation moving. The answer here is between 120 and 180 words, which most people can say comfortably in that time.
Does the generator add things that are not on my resume?
It is told to use only facts from your resume, and every answer is checked before you see it: a number, degree or name your resume does not contain is refused and the answer is rewritten once. If it still cannot be written from your facts, you see nothing and the attempt does not count toward your free allowance.
Is this the same as an elevator pitch?
They are close. An elevator pitch is a very short introduction you can use anywhere, such as at a networking event. A tell me about yourself answer is a little longer and is aimed at the specific role you are interviewing for.
