Job Description

As a Residential Juvenile Security Officer in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Access Control Officer at a government juvenile services location, you will help maintain a secure environment by monitoring entry points, verifying access credentials, screening visitors, and documenting activity. You will conduct routine patrols, remain visible to help deter incidents, and provide professional customer service. This driving position with Allied Universal values agility, reliability, innovation, teamwork, caring, and integrity.

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to staff, visitors, youth, and contractors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Control access to the government juvenile justice location by verifying credentials, screening authorized visitors and deliveries, maintaining visitor logs, and directing individuals according to established procedures.
• Monitor entry and exit points, report unauthorized access attempts or unusual activity, and help to deter prohibited items from entering the location.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established protocols and promptly communicating with appropriate personnel.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned access points, common areas, and the perimeter; working environments and conditions may vary by location.

Minimum Requirements:

• A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
• At least 6 months of security-related experience is required.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• X-ray screening experience is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
